Villa Villekulla bio picture

Welcome to Villa Kulla!

A bemused tale of how one Dane, 2 Ethiopians, a Detroiter and an American/Dane found Pippi Longstocking's house in the Baltimore area and moved right in. Technically Pippi's house is in Sweden, but moving there would have been a commuter nightmare- so we found the closest thing to Villa Villekulla in our neck of the woods.

Our house is an old, money pit and John and I are learning to be crafty- very, very crafty. This blog is my little place to journal  and post photographs of our children, Kaia (8), Josie (6) and Noah (4) as they grow, and to share my decor obsession by posting visual and tasty things I find on the internet and elsewhere.

Thanks so much for stopping  by!

Charlotte

I am so Pathetic!

I have been sick as a dog for the past few days. I am not even sure that dogs get this sick. Where does that saying come from anyway?
Anyone who has small kids knows that being sick does not exempt you from your motherly duties. Kids really don’t care that you are sick and...

From the Bahamas with Love.

(Not really me, but she does bear an uncanny resemblance to me from that particular angle)

Okay, Okay I will take a break from my blogging hiatus to fill you in on what we have been up to in the past month or so. Should I start with our fabulous Thanksgiving break spent in the Bahamas?...

Exciting Times.

Wow….Since the end of the presidential race, I have been completely devoid of things to blog about.
What is that old saying? ‘If you don’t have anything to blog about, for the love of God, don’t blog!!’
I think I might have just made that up- besides I rarely follow my own advice. So...

A Night on the Town with C- (a true story)

You know you are getting too old to go to bars when:
1. On your way out with the girls you realize that ‘A Prairie Home Companion’ is on and you wish you could just stay in the car with your Diet Coke and your banana and listen to the whole thing.
2. On your first visit...

God Help Me (before we’re on the Evening News)

I just have to make it through one more day til I get my sanity back. One more day til the school system can take over raising the kids that I went through hell and high water to have.
At least I hope it comes back, my sanity- that is.
Last time I saw...

Chronic Jet lag

I haven’t forgotten about my blog.
I am just really busy going to therapy to overcome the effects of being poked, prodded climbed on, drawn on, spilled on, and spit on for 9 straight hours by 3 small children at 38000 feet while crossing the Atlantic Ocean- and what felt like several other oceans- to...

Jealous much?

My sister and brother in law are piggy backing on my blog, so that our family in Denmark can see what a fabulous life they live. Tonight they went to a swanky party only for adults, which means NO kids. I am pretty sure that they were not serving chicken nuggets with macaroni and cheese,...

Who needs teeth anyway.

Teeth are falling out of our mouths left and right here.
Monday morning I was driving to work, minding my own business and chewing on a piece of gum when suddenly one of my teeth broke. It just broke right off. I am still in shock. Because at 42 your teeth aren’t supposed to just...

Things that go ‘chugga’ in the night.

Is Murray giving me the finger? So we are being stalked by a toy. Not just any toy either. Probably the creepiest toy ever created. It is not a toy that I ever would have thought to buy. You see my BFF in California, whose kids are a bit older than mine- was kind enough to...
