Villa Villekulla bio picture

Welcome to Villa Kulla!

A bemused tale of how one Dane, 2 Ethiopians, a Detroiter and an American/Dane found Pippi Longstocking's house in the Baltimore area and moved right in. Technically Pippi's house is in Sweden, but moving there would have been a commuter nightmare- so we found the closest thing to Villa Villekulla in our neck of the woods.

Our house is an old, money pit and John and I are learning to be crafty- very, very crafty. This blog is my little place to journal  and post photographs of our children, Kaia (8), Josie (6) and Noah (4) as they grow, and to share my decor obsession by posting visual and tasty things I find on the internet and elsewhere.

Thanks so much for stopping  by!

Charlotte

What is McDonalds thinking?!

It happened again. Another conglomerate causes complete and total mayhem in my otherwise stress free life. Something urgent came up late this afternoon (I had to nap) and I did not have enough time to prepare a nutritious and tasty meal for my kids, as I normally do every single night. So I decided to...

Facelift

Yay, we got a facelift. Thanks to Nikki at ‘Blogs For A Cause’. Nikki stylizes blogs for only $20, and man is she fast. I think it took her only one day. She is raising money for an upcoming humanitarian trip to the Dominican Republic. Nikki has a heart for kids and is also donating...

6 years worth of birthdays in one day.

K and I have been pondering for a while whether we should throw a birthday party for R, for all the birthday’s she has never celebrated. She told us that she has only once celebrated a birthday, it was at her orphanage and it was a group birthday shared with approximately 30 other kids, on...

Day by the Bay

Grab a chair, because I am about to post a TON of photo’s from a great day we just spent at a friends house by the Eastern Shore. We came ill-prepared for the sunshine and warm bay waters- since it has been cold here this past week, we did not think to bring swimsuits for...

What is Disney thinking?!

I don’t get why Disney makes blue princess dresses, when everybody knows that no little girl in her right mind would ever choose the blue dress over the pink one. The purple one is even questionable in my opinion. Standing in the middle of Target with a 4 and 6 year old, both wailing and...

Thug Squirrel

Since I always strive to keep my posts adoption related I thought that I would share that our family has been witness to something interesting, that has been playing out in the wilds of our backyard for the past week or so. First I have to preface this by explaining that the area we live...

Dangerously cute!

Now that Jason Castro has been booted off American Idol, I have nothing better to do than post ridiculous ramblings about nothing in particular. But I did want to share an alarming situation that has arisen in our home. I think N is scared of me. I seem to be stalking him as of late....

Whew….that was close…

Our home study social worker was here today for our second post-placement visit and it was a big day for us- because we had to remedy the disaster she witnessed here during the first visit, 2 months ago. I did not blog about it at the time, partly because it was terribly embarrassing and partly...
