Villa Villekulla bio picture

Welcome to Villa Kulla!

A bemused tale of how one Dane, 2 Ethiopians, a Detroiter and an American/Dane found Pippi Longstocking's house in the Baltimore area and moved right in. Technically Pippi's house is in Sweden, but moving there would have been a commuter nightmare- so we found the closest thing to Villa Villekulla in our neck of the woods.

Our house is an old, money pit and John and I are learning to be crafty- very, very crafty. This blog is my little place to journal  and post photographs of our children, Kaia (8), Josie (6) and Noah (4) as they grow, and to share my decor obsession by posting visual and tasty things I find on the internet and elsewhere.

Thanks so much for stopping  by!

I am taking a break from my political rantings. This blog needs some cuteness.
J and N both attend a wonderful school right in our neighborhood.
Pony rides are part of the curriculum. …Seriously…..

Wait- how did this get in there?

But it’s not all fun and games. Improper behavior is...

I just finished watching McCain’s presser where he selflessly announces his intentions to suspend...

Black + White = Both

As if there is not enough drama in the world right now with the robber barons on Wall Street running off with their golden parachutes. Hurricanes obliterating entire towns and questionable wars being fought. It amazes me that people are still tripping all over each other to discuss whether Obama is white enough or black...

This is Your Nation on White Privilege

A friend of mine sent me this article. I think it is dead on. The essayist is a writer and anti-racist activist. If you like this perspective you can check him out on redroom.com

If you are easily offended by swearing, I have to warn you that Palin’s charming future son in law is quoted in...

Summer Condensed (and ferociously patting self on back)

After writing a scathing, profanity filled post about the Gibson/Palin interview last night- I thought to myself; hmmmmm…. maybe I should just stick with blogging light and post this non-controversial photo montage from our summer instead.
I do get kudos for the incredible show of self restraint I demonstrated in NOT pushing the send button,...

Minneapolis Photo-series

For those of you who have been following husband’s travails as a political groupie, here is what he came up with from the Republican Convention.
Now I am sure you will notice that his expressions are not quite as eager and excited as in his Denver series. He readily admits that brushing shoulders with Mitt...
